A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Sheltair has broken ground on a new FBO at Florida’s Sarasota Bradenton International Airport. When completed by the end of 2025, it will become the service provider’s 17th FBO location and its 13th&nbsp;in Florida.
“We are thrilled to announce the arrival of Sheltair as the third fixed-base operator at SRQ,” said airport president and CEO Rick Piccolo. “Situated on 24 acres within the new north quad airport development, this addition will provide another choice for the general aviation community and bring numerous job opportunities to the Sarasota-Bradenton area.”
The $40 million project will feature a 10,700-sq-ft terminal with an aircraft arrival canopy and landside porte de cochere, open lobby area, a private lounge, pilot lounge, conference rooms, and tenant office space.
It will also include a pair of hangars capable of accommodating the latest ultra-long-range business jets, at 30,000 sq ft and 17,000 sq ft respectively, with another nearly 10,000 sq ft of office space. Future plans for the site call for an additional four 20,000-sq-ft-plus hangars and a 60,000-sq-ft aircraft maintenance facility.
“I can’t begin to express how excited we are to be in the Sarasota market,” explained Sheltair president and CEO Lisa Holland. “We recognize the potential that it holds for us, and we look forward to working with the community.”
