Aircraft lessor Air Lease Corporation (ALC) has chosen&nbsp;Pratt &amp; Whitney (P&amp;W) Geared Turbofan (GTF) engines to power A320neos and A220s that it has ordered. The deal, announced Monday at the Farnborough Airshow,&nbsp;consists of&nbsp;a firm order for&nbsp;80 A320neos and another firm order for 76 A220s with 10 options. That brings ALC’s total order count to 222 firm and 10 options on GTF-powered aircraft. All told, ALC owns, manages, and holds orders for more than 275 aircraft powered by P&amp;W engines.

 


With their geared fan architecture, GTF-powered aircraft reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 16 to 20 percent, NOx emissions by 50 percent, and noise footprint by 75 percent over prior-generation aircraft, according to Pratt &amp; Whitney.
