Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

Dart Aerospace is expanding its landing gear product portfolio, securing approvals in recent months from Transport Canada, the FAA, and EASA for its Airbus EC/H135 replacement crosstubes.

 


“This achievement represents a key milestone for DART’s landing gear portfolio. The development presented significant design, manufacturing, and certification challenges,” said David Shepherd, Dart Aerospace vice president of certification, noting the part marks Dart’s first foray into larger thin-wall aluminum tubes used on Airbus helicopter landing gear. “It definitely increases our capabilities to take on more complex landing gear program development in the future.”

 


Shreveport, Louisiana air medical operation and completion center Metro Aviation took delivery of the initial Dart H135 crosstubes. Metro Aviation further worked with Dart during the development phase, and managing director Milton Geltz said the company is “excited to have an alternate source for these types of products.”

 


The crosstubes are corrosion resistant, made from improved high-strength aluminum alloy and protected by a high-performance primer and paint for offshore operations, Dart said. The company is offering its Standard Low size, as well as Mid-Height that is suited for helicopters requiring extra ground clearance, such as for utility operations. They are designed to be compatible with Dart’s Round-I-Beam skidtubes and OEM-related parts such as saddles, skidtubes, access steps, and ground-handling wheels. The Mid-Height model further is compatible with Dart and OEM floats, Dart said.
