Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

NBAA is planning to host a National Safety Forum and Single-Pilot Safety Standdown at its upcoming Business Aviation Convention &amp; Exhibition in October in Orlando. &nbsp;

 


To be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 15, the eve of BACE,&nbsp;the 10th-annual Single-Pilot Safety Standdown will provide an interactive learning environment with expert speakers and peer-to-peer discussions focusing on operational safety and risk mitigation. The forum is designed to help expand knowledge and skills of pilots involved in single-pilot operations. NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen, AOPA president and CEO Mark Baker, and EAA chairman and CEO Jack Pelton are among the speakers planned for this event. “We have a progressive and interactive program planned this year,” said NBAA Safety Committee chair David Ryan.

 


Meanwhile, the fourth-annual National Safety Forum will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 18, the final day of the convention. With a theme of “Safety Begins with You,” the forum will highlight the basics of maintaining skills and understanding automation in aircraft. In addition, it will cover the physiology and psychology that affects human performance, along with the relationship of leadership and professionalism in aviation safety. “Continuing with our town-hall format, the National Safety Forum will engage with operators on several topics, including airmanship, fitness for duty, and professionalism/safety leadership,” Ryan said.
