Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

A Love Field Pilots Association (LFPA) task force is hoping to build a case to convince Dallas officials that their original proposed general aviation (GA) landing fee at Dallas Love Field (DAL) might be overreaching. LFPA formed the task force to delve into GA’s costs and contributions to DAL after the Dallas city council in late April approved the assessment of new landing fees, originally proposing a fee of $5.80 per 1,000 pounds—among the highest in the country. The city has cited a need to raise funds to maintain the airport, as well as a need for GA to pay its "fair share," in approving the new fee.

 


Airport officials agreed to a three-month implementation delay, to October 1, after LFPA raised a number of questions regarding the assessment formula and urged consultation with the general aviation community. The association has found the dialog productive and is hopeful the fee will ultimately be adjusted, it told AIN.

 


Of concern was that original documents supporting the fee characterized the GA contribution to Love Field at $1.2 million last year. But that excludes rental/lease payments, GA-paid capital improvements, and property taxes on based aircraft. The city is expected to realign other original assumptions, such as the inclusion of costs for an apron that is off-limits to GA and ramp space that GA already pays to maintain.
