A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

A year after it began FBO services at London’s Southend Airport, Stobart Jet Centre is reporting an eventful year. In January, the company unveiled its new 24/7 FBO facility, which will be the only one in the London area available for nighttime movements this summer, and as it prepares to exhibit at its second European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition, the location has positioned itself as a cost-effective and efficient option for private aircraft operators heading into the capital.

 


“We are delighted to be exhibiting at EBACE again after a highly successful launch since we announced our intentions at last year’s show," said managing director Stephen Grimes, adding the location is on schedule to double its aircraft movements in 2018. “Performance has exceeded our expectations, and we are well on the way to meeting our target on 10,000 movements per year by 2022, if not sooner.” At its booth (Booth O96), the Stobart staff will greet attendees and discuss the facility, which they say offers cheaper parking and operating costs in the region. “We also have other growth targets which we will be discussing, including the possible strategic acquisition of more FBOs,” said Grimes.
