Mark Huber is an aviation industry veteran who has worked in the flight training, aircraft sales, aircraft component, and airport development businesses. He has flight time in more than 50 different and diverse aircraft, including helicopters, aerobatic aircraft, vintage warbirds, jet fighters, business jets and turboprops, and transport-category aircraft. Airbus Helicopters has received EASA type certificate approval for its new Helionix cockpit in the H135 light twin. The night vision goggle-compatible Helionix system is already available on the larger H145 and H175 twins and features three large electronic displays, a four-axis autopilot, first limit indicator, two touchscreen Garmin GTN 750 GPS navcoms and the Avidyne ADS-B-capable TAS620A traffic advisory system. The Avidyne system displays 30 targets, tracks 50,&nbsp;and has a range of 21 nm, an ADS-B range of 40 nm and a vertical range of +/-10,000 feet.


Deliveries of H135s equipped with Helionix are scheduled to begin next year with helicopter EMS provider Norsk Luftambulanse AS and Ascent Flight Training as the launch customers. Ascent is the UK Ministry of Defence’s appointed training service partner for delivering the UK’s Military Flying Training System .


Airbus Helicopters has delivered 1,200 H135s worldwide, and the fleet now has four million hours in service.
