Duncan Aviation is installing Archangel attitude and heading reference system (AHRS) upgrades for Pilatus PC-12s equipped with obsolete Litef LCR-92/92 AHRS. The MRO supported Archangel’s certification of the upgrade, which replaces units that Duncan said have limited support, rising repair costs, and costly upgrade paths.
The recently FAA-approved replacement AHR150A AHRS is available for installation at Duncan Aviation MRO and satellite facilities and at customer locations. The company can install the AHRS in less than a week, thanks to the Archangel adapter plates designed to fit the existing LCR-92/93 mounting locations. Archangel also developed adapter wiring harnesses that connect to the existing aircraft wiring.
Notably, the weight of the old and new AHRS is roughly the same. The solid-state Archangel AHR150A requires no periodic maintenance, its components are TSO-approved, and it features Level A software and a RVSM-capable air data system.
“We’ve relied on [Duncan Aviation’s] avionics and engineering expertise as we developed the supplemental type certificate for our new AHRS,” said Archangel v-p of business development Aria Bahawdory. “We are confident that our new AHRS will provide Pilatus owner/operators with a practical, dependable, affordable system to replace their obsolete inertial sensing systems.”
