Matt Thurber, editor-in-chief at AIN Media Group, has been flying since 1975 and writing about aviation since 1978 and now has the best job in the world, running editorial operations for Aviation International News, Business Jet Traveler, and FutureFlight.aero. In addition to working as an A&amp;P mechanic on everything from Piper Cubs to turboprops, Matt taught flying at his father’s flight school in Plymouth, Mass., in the early 1980s, flew for an aircraft owner/pilot, and for two summer seasons hunted swordfish near the George’s Banks off the East Coast from a Piper Super Cub. Rectrix Aerodrome Centers has opened a second FBO, at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport in Florida, which joins the company’s first FBO in Hyannis, Mass. Rectrix Sarasota is housed in a 15,000-sq-ft three-story glass tower next to 150,000 sq ft of hangar space and 15 acres of concrete ramps. Rectrix spent nearly $25 million on the new facility, which includes passenger and crew lounges, meeting rooms and five-star-hotel-style lobbies and facilities. Hangar space is available for ownership under Rectrix’s Hangarminium program. “This place is spectacular,” said Sarasota airport director Rick Piccolo. “There is no facility like this anywhere in Florida, and we are happy that Rectrix elected to invest in Sarasota and bring such a great product to our corporate and leisure travelers.”
