The original engine instruments are replaced with Garmin’s TXi engine indication system (EIS), which includes EIS-generated or user-selected N1 targets for takeoff, go-around, and max continuous thrust settings. The system automatically computes N1 reference bugs, “which take into account engine and anti-ice status, as well as outside air temperature,” according to Garmin.

CitationJet-specific situational awareness features include stabilized approach monitoring—with aural annunciations for speed, course, glidepath, and sink rate—and aural V-speed alerting during takeoff. 

The navigation solution is supplied by GTN Xi navigators that include coupled descent vertical navigation with the GFC 600 autopilot and connectivity with mobile devices for wireless flight plan loading and information sharing.

Along with coupled go-arounds and seamless linking of en route, terminal, and approach procedures, the GFC 600 autopilot includes emergency descent mode in case of loss of cabin pressure, a color display, and flight level change mode. 

With this upgrade, pilots can use FAA Data Comm text-based communications, which are now available at more than 60 airports in the U.S. and from all FAA air route traffic control centers for aircraft flying above 16,000 feet. At the airports, Data Comm enables pre-departure clearances, and while en route, controllers can issue clearances, frequency changes, and other instructions via text-based messaging.

Garmin is offering the GWX 8000 StormOptix weather radar and PlaneSync connected aircraft management system as options under this upgrade. Other options include the GMA 35C audio panel, GTX 345R transponder with ADS-B In and optional ADS-B Out antenna diversity, GDL 69A SiriusXM datalink, GTS series traffic systems, and GSR 56 datalink for satellite-based weather, calling, and messaging.
