A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Light jet brokerage Aerista has partnered with AI firm Aviox to move the used aircraft market beyond the limitations of static listings.
Aerista—which specializes in the preowned Cirrus Vision Jet, handling approximately 300 transactions per year—has spent more than a decade building its AeristaMetrics proprietary database of transaction intelligence and aircraft pedigrees. It will combine that with Aviox’s advanced AI and behavioral modeling to give greater clarity and precision to the factors that “define successful aircraft transactions,” including maintenance history, record quality, pre-buy readiness, ownership economics, market timing, and human factors.
According to Aerista co-founder Steven Schwartz, the data his company has collected since 2012 will be turned into an advantage for its clients. For aircraft sellers, rather than rely on “hope pricing” determined through public asking prices and word of mouth, they will gain access to real-time market signals via their broker. Buyers will receive greater clarity as to how value is compared in the market thanks to earlier insight into where a specific aircraft ranks in the market based on configuration, condition, and timing.
“Aerista was founded on the belief that brokerage is a people and data-first discipline,” said Schwartz. “Our partnership with Aviox is the natural evolution of that focus.”
