A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Aircraft hangar builder and operator Sky Harbour has signed a lease with the city of Long Beach, California, for the construction of a $60 million complex at Long Beach Airport (KLGB).&nbsp;The 17-acre, two-phase development is expected to include five 42,000-sq-ft hangars capable of sheltering the latest ultra-long-range business jets, with private, premium offices and/or lounges.
The company anticipates breaking ground before the end of next year, with the grand opening of the first phase, including three hangars, estimated for first-quarter 2028.&nbsp;As part of its turnkey, Home Base Operator offering, Sky Harbour will provide a full slate of ground services such as fueling and towing.
Across the country, Sky Harbour currently operates nine facilities at Houston Sugar Land Regional Airport (KSGR), Nashville International Airport (KBNA), Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (KOPF), San Jose Mineta Airport (KSJC), Southern California’s Camarillo Airport (KCMA), Seattle King County International Airport-Boeing Field (KBFI), Phoenix Deer Valley Airport (KDVT), Dallas Addison Airport (KADS), and Denver Centennial Airport (KAPA). Nine more are also under development, including four in the U.S. Northeast.
“Long Beach has successfully established itself as a hive of innovation, most notably in the aerospace technology sector,” said company CEO Tal Keinan, who expects that to drive hangar demand in the area. “Business aviation will increasingly power business innovation and economic growth in this community.”
