A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Following the success of AIN’s inaugural <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/gallery/ains-fbo-dinner-awards-gala-2025">FBO Awards Gala</a> last month in New Orleans, the window has reopened for the 45th edition of the annual survey of aviation service providers. Once again, AIN’s readers—those who frequent FBOs and know them best—will be able to rate the services and facilities of the locations they visit.
“AIN is proud to release our new and improved&nbsp;FBO&nbsp;survey for 2025 to 2026,” said Lisa Valladares, AIN’s director of marketing and client services, adding that this year’s survey has a new look and improved user interface. “We look forward to hearing from all of our readers as they submit their ratings of their favorite FBOs worldwide.”
While not all the improvements will be readily visible to the outside user, the FBO survey mechanism has been thoroughly updated and improved with a <a href="https://fbosurvey.com/fbo/dashboard">new website</a>. All existing accounts from prior years have been migrated to the new survey, but all returning users will need to reset their passwords.
This survey window will close at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, and the second-annual AIN FBO Awards Gala will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the conclusion of NBAA’s Schedulers &amp; Dispatchers Conference in Cleveland, Ohio.
