A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Stellar Aviation Group unveiled its newest FBO with a grand opening at Nevada’s Reno-Tahoe International Airport (KRNO) last week. The $14 million facility features a 5,000-sq-ft terminal with pilot lounge and snooze room, large and small conference rooms, catering kitchen, bistro area with full-service food and beverages, and onsite car rental.
The first phase of development also includes four acres of ramp that can accommodate aircraft up to a C-5 Galaxy military transport, as well as 37,000 sq ft of hangar space capable of sheltering the latest ultra-long-range business jets, with tenant offices, and a 50-person meeting space.
Stellar has operated at KRNO since 2020 when it <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2020-02-14/second-fbo-lands-reno-airport">won a request for proposal</a>&nbsp;to operate the second FBO on the field from a temporary location. Construction on the new facility was delayed due to the pandemic, but work finally began on the site early <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2023-02-24/stellar-aviation-breaks-ground-new-reno-fbo">last year</a>.
In the fourth quarter, the company expects to begin construction on the next phase, which will include a 30,000-sq-ft hangar and 8,000 sq ft of additional offices.
This latest addition brings the Stellar FBO chain to four locations, joining facilities at Nevada's&nbsp;Carson City Airport (KCXP); Florida’s Palm Beach County Park Airport (KLNA); and Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport (KSPI) in Springfield, Illinois. At the latter two, it is the sole aviation services provider on the field.
“This new location is another strategic cornerstone for our growing FBO network as we look to expand. “We intend to provide services and facilities to not only the myriad users that call, or want to call, KRNO their home base, but also the significant transient operators that require such services at this bustling airport.”
