GE Passport Engine Now Slated To Fly Late This Year
GE’s Passport engine for the Bombardier Global 7000 and 8000 remains on track for certification next year.
GE Aviation is continuing ground testing of its Passport engine, chosen by Bombardier to power its ultra-long-range Global 7000 and 8000, while it revises plans for flight testing. The powerplant was originally slated to fly last month on GE’s new Boeing 747-400 testbed, but will instead be tested on its older 747-100 flying testbed later this year. The company said this will not affect certification plans, with Passport certification still expected next year. (Photo: GE Aviation)
