A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

In an earnings conference call this morning, Textron released its first-quarter results and reported revenues of $2.2 billion, down 12.5 percent from the first quarter of last year, blamed largely on the lower deliveries of aircraft and the downsizing of the company’s non-captive finance business. Its Cessna subsidiary saw a revenue drop of $336 million, based on the decrease in Citation deliveries, which at 31 in the first quarter of the year were less than half the number delivered in the first three months of last year. The airframer’s backlog at the end of the quarter was worth $4.1 billion, a decrease of $820 million since the end of last year. Bell Helicopter also reported a decrease in revenues of $124 million in the first quarter due to lower sales volume. The company’s backlog stands at $6.9 billion, down slightly from the end of last year. “As evidenced by our industrial segment revenues, which were up 32 percent from a year ago, world economies generally appear to be recovering,” said Textron president and CEO Scott Donnelly. “We believe the economic trend will translate to an eventual rebound in orders for business jets and commercial helicopters, as well.”&nbsp;
