Gregory Polek has spent his entire career in aviation journalism with AIN, starting as a proofreader and assistant to then-managing editor Mary Mahoney in 1995 after serving an internship with&nbsp;New Jersey Monthly&nbsp;magazine and completing his B.A. degree in English/Writing at New Jersey’s William Paterson College. By 1997 Polek accepted a position as an associate editor, covering the regional airline beat for&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;in place of retiring industry veteran Don Anderson. The assignment took Polek across North America and Europe to profile regional airlines varying in size and mission from the likes of floatplane operators Kenmore Air and Chalk’s Ocean Airways to regional jet operators such as SkyWest and American Eagle. Today, in his dual role as Air Transport Editor and International Airshow Editor, Polek writes, edits, and manages AIN’s commercial aviation content while overseeing each of the company’s daily international air show publications in Paris, Farnborough, Singapore, and Dubai. Most recently Polek has assumed oversight of daily coverage of the Helicopter Association International’s annual Heli-Expo convention.

Collins Aerospace is a prominent aerospace and defense company specializing in the development and manufacture of advanced technology solutions. They offer a wide range of products and services, including avionics, aircraft interiors, mission systems, and space systems. 

Collins Aerospace has signed a 10-year support agreement with Etihad Airways covering the Abu Dhabi-based carrier’s fleet of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The contract centers on Collins’s Dispatch flight-hour program and marks the first “performance-based” service program with Etihad.
Under the deal, Collins (Stand 1055) will provide on-site spares, maintenance services including upgrades, access to a worldwide 787 assets pool, and technical support for avionics. Collins claims to possess “unmatched knowledge” as the supplier and systems integrator of the 787’s flight deck display system, crew alerting system, pilot controls, and other critical components and systems.
The Boeing 787 accounts for one-third of Etihad’s fleet and it flies&nbsp;to 38 of its 76 passenger destinations. Plans call for the Dreamliners to service more routes in 2020. “The reliability of these aircraft is critical to the smooth flow of our daily operations and this reliability will continue to be important well into the future,” said Etihad COO Mohammad Ali Bulooki. “Our partnership with Collins Aerospace is an important investment in this reliability and in our brand.”
