A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

GE Aerospace has awarded a six-year contract for the manufacture of components for the T700/CT7 family of engines to Barnes Aerospace at its Newton Abbot, UK production facility. As part of the deal—which builds on more than three decades of cooperation between the two companies—Barnes will produce airfoils for the engines.
T700/CT7 engines are used on a variety of rotorcraft, including the Sikorsky Blackhawk family and on the manufacturer’s S-92 large-cabin commercial helicopter.
“Barnes Aerospace is delighted to continue our longstanding partnership with GE Aerospace through the development of airfoil components for the T700/CT7 program,” said Barnes CEO George Whittier. “This represents the first package of work from GE Aerospace to Newton Abbot, and we see it as the start of a long-term relationship between one of our most important customers and an exceptional operating facility that already produces up to one million airfoil components per year.”
The contract also aligns with GE Aerospace’s focus on supporting rotorcraft operators in the region, as well as its commercial collaborations with UK businesses to support local manufacturing.
“These expanding relationships reflect GE Aerospace’s ongoing effort to building strong supplier relationships that drive economic impact and industrial advancement in the UK,” explained Rita Flaherty, GE’s v-p of global sales and business development.
