A long-awaited definition study that may lead to a pan-European MALE RPAS (Medium Altitude Long Endurance Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) finally started last month. But the entry into service of a system that could rival current offerings from Israel and the U.S. is still more than eight years away. Meanwhile, European countries are continuing to acquire the rival systems.
