A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Million Air’s location at Albany International Airport (KALB) is now the first FBO in New York to provide continuous supplies of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).&nbsp;While other facilities in the state have taken SAF in the <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2019-05-21/sustainable-fuel-powers-flights-geneva?utm_campaign=AIN%20Alerts&amp;utm_source=hs_email&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-9e_dyYC11kBNYoT80zlfdz4gOvi57ppkGGWAQnDbb6FdsPWqLZ44F9WYC9UZoTMMTPpsTa">past</a>, it was only for demonstration purposes.
The lone service provider on the field, the facility received its first delivery of SAF late last month from Avfuel’s <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2025-01-31/avfuel-brings-saf-its-northeastern-customers">Northeast</a> distribution facility. A drop-in replacement for jet-A in its blended form, SAF is made from renewable and sustainably sourced waste materials. The delivered 30% SAF blend will provide a 24% reduction in life cycle carbon emissions.
“Sustainable aviation fuel is the most effective tool we have today to reduce the aviation industry’s carbon footprint,” said Brian King, the FBO’s general manager, adding that the initiative has been four years in the making.
“Albany International Airport is proud to be the first airport in New York state to offer SAF through Avfuel to our general aviation customers,” explained Sam Fresina, chair of the Albany County Airport Authority. “This milestone reflects our deep commitment to supporting cleaner, greener technologies that protect our environment and advance the future of air travel.”
For the FBO chain, this represents the latest step in its <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2021-11-01/million-air-launches-green-initiative">company-wide commitment</a> to responsible aviation practices. Its Beyond Green program focuses on the integration of sustainable solutions across the Million Air network.
