A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

FBO operator and aviation real estate developer Sheltair has broken ground on a hangar complex at Melbourne Orlando International Airport (KMLB) in Central Florida.&nbsp;The 34,500-sq-ft structure will feature thirty 40-foot by 30-foot deep T-hangars with a 15-foot door height, each capable of sheltering very light jets such as the Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet. The development will also include 37 customer vehicle parking spaces and a pair of restrooms.
Located adjacent to KMLB’s tower, the complex is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2025, and the company is already accepting pre-opening leases.
“The ability to accommodate an additional 30 smaller aircraft with new T-hangar facilities will be an invaluable asset to our Melbourne operation,” said Sheltair COO Todd Anderson. “As the region’s businesses thrive, so does the airport. We’re dedicated to meeting its needs every step of the way.”
Sheltair <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2021-04-23/sheltair-adds-melbourne-fbo">acquired</a> the Melbourne location in 2021. The Florida-based, family-owned company operates 16 FBOs, the majority of them in the Sunshine State. Over its entire network, it has a portfolio of more than 4.5 million sq ft of aviation-related properties.
