A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Business aircraft departing Geneva Airport at the conclusion of the EBACE show next week will again have the opportunity to fill up on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). For the <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2022-05-22/jet-aviation-brings-saf-geneva-first-time">third year</a> in a row, Jet Aviation will provide a 35% SAF blend to its customers.
“SAF is an important part of our efforts towards a more sustainable future, for the industry and for Jet Aviation,” said João Martins, the company’s v-p of FBO operations in Europe and general manager of its Zurich location. “We were proud to be the first company to bring SAF to Switzerland in 2020, and since then we have continued to work in partnership to increase availability in the region, and globally.”
This year, the General Dynamics subsidiary will be joined by fellow FBO operator Signature Aviation in distributing SAF for the event, which runs from <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2024-05-06/ebace-show-organizers-announce-trio-keynote-speakers">May 28 to 30</a>. Also in partnership with TotalEnergies, Signature will offer a 30% blended SAF, enabling its customers to achieve a 24% life cycle carbon emissions savings compared with conventional jet-A.
While some airframers have demonstrated their aircraft compatibility with 100% SAF, which can provide life cycle emissions savings of up to 80%, SAF is currently only approved for retail use at blends of up to 50%.
“EBACE provides an incredibly unique opportunity to both experience and help shape the future of aviation, with sustainability being at the forefront of the conversation,” said Sophie Lesnoff, Signature’s area director for mainland Europe. “In bringing SAF to Geneva for this year’s event, we are thrilled to be giving more of our guests the opportunity to take an active part in helping business aviation work towards net zero.”
