A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Sheltair has opened its FBO in the newly constructed terminal at Florida dedicated general aviation gateway Ocala International Airport-Jim Taylor Field (OCF). A combined private-public effort among&nbsp;the city of Ocala, the airport, the state Department of Transportation, and the service provider, the $7 million 15,722-sq-ft facility houses the Sheltair FBO with offices, passenger and crew lounges, quiet room, and flight planning area, along with airport administration offices, rental car facilities, community event space, and a restaurant&nbsp;expected to debut next year. Given the airport's location in the heart of Florida horse-country, equine handling is also available.

 


Sheltair, which is exhibiting this week in the Avfuel booth at NBAA's Schedulers and Dispatchers Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, also just broke ground at the Central Florida airport&nbsp;on a new 20,000-sq-ft hangar with 28-foot high doors to accommodate the latest ultra-long-range business jets.

 


“We believe that this new hangar now under construction and the adjacent FBO building represent a world-class ‘front door’ to the city of Ocala that has come to market just in time,” said Todd Anderson, Florida-based Sheltair’s vice president for real estate and development. “Our company is proud to be a part of this unique partnership, contributing our proven aviation design expertise along with a $2 million financial investment, allowing us to celebrate a much-anticipated ribbon cutting.”
