Projected demand for charter flights seems to be picking up in anticipation of the holiday season, according to the latest data from online charter portal Avinode. The Sweden-based company’s forward-looking demand index for the 30-day period starting on November 14 showed demand increasing for all categories of business aircraft in both Europe and North America, with the exception of light jets in Europe, which was down 108 index points from October 14.
Compared with a month ago, the strongest projected increase in demand is seen in the North American midsize business jet sector (up 32 points) and also in the European large-cabin jet sector (up 21 points).
All aircraft categories on both sides of the Atlantic showed stronger demand than had been projected by the index 12 months earlier. Compared with this time last year, the strongest increase in demand appears to have been for light and midsize jets in North America, with encouraging growth seen in the same European categories. Avinode’s price index for the same period showed only slight fluctuations.
