Proposal bans Stage 2 night ops at Palwaukee

Part 150 (airport noise-compatibility planning) study recommendations for Palwaukee Municipal Airport (PWK) in Wheeling, Ill., were recently accepted by the city’s airport commission. The recommendations include a ban on Stage 2 jets with mtow under 75,000 lb between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

However, this ban cannot be implemented without the airport authority completing a Part 161 (notice and approval of airport noise and access restrictions) study and having its recommendations approved by the FAA. The authority expected that the study itself would take two years to complete and implementation of the Stage 2 ban would take about another six to nine months to implement.
