<p>The Los Angeles board of airport commissioners awarded a $2.15 million contract to Jacobs Consultancy for a three-year study to evaluate air pollution emissions and their impact on surrounding communities. The study begins in June and includes installation of 11 air-monitoring stations in the LAX area and collection of data for 12 months. The pollutants being measured include nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide and particulate matter. According to Los Angeles World Airports, “The three-year study is in compliance with the requirements of the LAX master plan mitigation monitoring and reporting program, the community benefits agreement and the LAX stipulated settlement agreement.”</p>
