Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) is joining airline groups Airlines for Europe, the International Air Transport Association, and the European Regions Airline Association in calling on the European Union (EU) to expedite the adoption of the Single European Sky 2+ (SES 2+) proposal.
In a joint position paper, the organizations urged action, saying they see “more need than ever for a big step forward toward seamless, harmonized, and cost-efficient air traffic management (ATM) services.”
The proposed SES 2+ regulatory framework is critical to modernizing European airspace but has languished for years. “Its full implementation is long overdue,” they said, noting little progress has been made since the European Commission recast the proposal.
Operators in Europe face rising costs and increased capacity constraints, leading to delays and higher CO2 emissions, they further said. “Europe’s operators have been pushing for the clear benefits of SES 2+ to be realized. But instead of making progress and taking big steps forward, the compromises found so far are falling far behind what is needed,” they said. “In some instances, we even risk falling behind the current status quo.”
In urging the adoption, the groups jointly agreed that Europe needs an independent European regulator; independent national supervisory authorities that are free from public and private influence to support the EU; operational performance measures instead of concepts of modulation of charges or a common unit rate; transparent and independent target setting process; and charges and cost principles that are regulated with increased flexibility. “Based on the Covid-19 experience, the financing of the ATM system needs to be reevaluated,” they said.
