Mark Huber is an aviation industry veteran who has worked in the flight training, aircraft sales, aircraft component, and airport development businesses. He has flight time in more than 50 different and diverse aircraft, including helicopters, aerobatic aircraft, vintage warbirds, jet fighters, business jets and turboprops, and transport-category aircraft. He has jumped out of several of these—on purpose—with a parachute. His defense and aviation journalism has been published in a variety of national and international periodicals.

The Helicopter Association International (HAI)&nbsp;and Swiss-based aviation software and training provider NGFT Solutions have developed demonstration versions of a flight risk-assessment tool (FRAT) and a workplace risk assessment tool (WORA) designed for the rotorcraft industry and are seeking user input. The full version of the tools continues to undergo additional development and is expected to be completed late in the first quarter of 2022.

 


The FRAT features a simplified question-and-answer format that gives crews a common understanding of the major risks involved in various types of operations, while the WORA can be used to evaluate risk associated with an aerial work pick-up site. HAI members can access the full version by signing in and accessing the tool by opening an account at NGFT. Current NGFT subscribers can access both through their apps or subscription page.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The final, full version will offer more features and customization.”
