NBAA and other Santa Monica Airport (SMO) stakeholders have jointly petitioned the U.S. Court of Appeals, District of Columbia Circuit, to review the FAA’s settlement agreement with the city of Santa Monica, which would allow the airport to be closed at the end of 2028. The agreement also allows the city to shorten SMO’s single 4,973-foot runway to 3,500 feet, which would reduce jet traffic at the airport by an estimated 44 percent.
