Among the companies making their NBAA-BACE debut this year is Delaware-based Velocity Maintenance Solutions. The FAA Part 145-certified maintenance, repair, and overhaul provider, which currently occupies a 20,000-sq-ft hangar at Wilmington Airport (KILG), is preparing to move into a larger facility there following a multimillion-dollar renovation.
The MRO will transition to the neighboring 75,000-sq-ft complex, formerly occupied by Dassault Falcon Jet, by the end of the month.
“The expansion of our facilities at KILG represents an important next step in Velocity’s continued growth,” said CEO Bryan Weiss. “Moving from our current 20,000-square-foot hangar into a 75,000-square-foot facility gives our team substantially more capacity and flexibility to support our customers, expand our scheduled maintenance capabilities, and accommodate larger and more complex projects.”
Velocity offers AOG support, scheduled maintenance, avionics, pre-buy inspections, non-destructive testing, digital dent assessment and mapping, and parts procurement.
With its 40,000-sq-ft hangar at WILG capable of accommodating up to a Bombardier Global 6500, the new location will double the company’s hangar footprint, allowing it to support more aircraft, improve workflow and turnaround times, and increase the level of service it provides to both existing and prospective customers. The remaining 35,000 sq ft of the facility will house offices, workshops, client hospitality, and storage.
As Velocity continues to expand its capabilities and customer base, the company also expects to grow its workforce over the next 12 to 18 months, adding certified technicians and other aviation professionals in the Wilmington area.
The company also operates a fleet of 14 mobile repair team trucks that provide nationwide coverage, with emphasis on the East Coast. Trucks are based at WILG; New Jersey’s Teterboro Airport (KTEB); Florida’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (KFLL); Arizona’s Scottsdale Airport (KSDL); Cincinnati Municipal Airport–Lunken Field (KLUK); and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (KCLE).
“Our team has considerable experience supporting all principal business aircraft OEMs, including Bombardier, Gulfstream, Dassault Falcon, Textron, and Embraer,” added Velocity president Michael Baker. “We have built our operation around safety, quality, responsiveness, and service excellence.”
