Aloft AeroArchitects has opened a custom systems integration lab to test aircraft technologies in a realistic environment. Located at the company’s headquarters at Delaware Coastal Airport (KGED) in Georgetown, Delaware, the Aloft Innovation Lab will support the company’s internal programs while enabling collaboration with industry partners.
Engineers can integrate and test technologies using traditional aircraft architectures or a cabin systems framework Aloft calls “modular open-source architecture in-cabin” (Mosaic). The MRO and completions specialist will offer “lab-as-a-service,” permitting customers to rent lab space, equipment, and technical resources in a controlled environment.
“We are challenging the aviation arena to keep up with modern technology by providing a space to collaborate and expedite new ideas,” Aloft chief commercial officer Matt Hill said. “The innovation lab allows us and our partners to test these solutions in a realistic aircraft ecosystem, identify integration challenges early, and significantly accelerate the path to market.”
Aloft first unveiled the facility at the Red Cabin Business Jet and VIP Interior Innovation Summit, which it hosted last month in Dewey Beach, Delaware. The company celebrated its 50th anniversary at the event.
“Hosting RedCabin during our 50th anniversary year allowed us to showcase not only the future of aircraft interiors and passenger experience, but also the people, partnerships, and capabilities that have defined Aloft for the past five decades,” said Aloft CEO Scott Meyers.
