The International Aircraft Dealers Association (IADA) has redesigned its Certified Aircraft Broker program to further elevate standards in this unregulated discipline. Launching after NBAA-BACE 2026, IADA Certified Aircraft Broker v2.0 adds a three-month IADA U preparation period and a more global focus in the examination of the two-year transaction experience requirement.

These changes reflect the international nature of the marketplace and are intended to provide an expanded professional-development process around defined knowledge standards, required experience, and preparations for the complexities of domestic and cross-border transactions, IADA said.

Under the program, brokers must complete an extended Certified Broker Study Course and a minimum three-month preparation period before taking the examination. Previously, qualified candidates could register and test without completing a prescribed course. IADA said Version 2.0 shifts emphasis from exam preparation to developing lasting professional knowledge. Candidates will use a new digital Certified Aircraft Broker Study Guide that outlines key terms, transaction pitfalls, and required skills, and provides supporting references.

Plans call to continue expanding the IADA U education program to support continuing professional development. The initial IADA U Education Series includes a seven-module aviation insurance program, with courses on aircraft finance, contracts, and aircraft appraisal in development.

IADA leadership worked with independent credentialing organization Joseph Allan and a committee of dealers and brokers to develop the digital program.

“Aircraft brokerage has become an increasingly sophisticated and global profession, and our certification standards are evolving with this new complex marketplace,” said IADA executive director Lou Seno. “This program raises the bar even higher for professional knowledge while giving candidates a clear yet rigorous path to achieving IADA certification.”
