For those wanting to see the interior of Walt Disney’s Gulfstream I, the Palm Springs Air Museum has announced a series of special tour nights.
Used extensively as Disney’s personal transport, the turboprop twin (known unsurprisingly as “The Mouse”) flew the legendary film producer between California and the East Coast for a variety of missions during its nearly 30 years in service before it was eventually retired to a back lot at Walt Disney World in Florida.
The Mouse was unexpectedly recovered, repainted in its original scheme, and trucked to California in 2022 to serve as the centerpiece of the Disney D23 convention in Anaheim. Following that, it was determined that the GI would be displayed at the Palm Springs museum, which would also restore the interior of the aircraft to its 1960s appearance in cooperation with the Disney Archives.
The museum is offering special limited-admission nights to see the airplane’s newly restored cabin, with the first scheduled for Saturday, October 17, with special guests Mark Malone, a former pilot of the airplane, and Walt Disney archives manager Ed Ovalle.
Other dates next year will include Saturdays: January 16, February 20, March 6, and April 3. Each night will feature a guest keynote speaker providing information about the aircraft and its restoration.
