Charles Alcock is managing editor of the AIN Media Group, having rejoined the company in 2019. He has been an aviation journalist since 1986, and previously worked for AIN from 1990 to 2017, most recently as editor-in-chief. His main focus is on covering new aviation technology and business models, as well as international news.
Having been raised in the London area, Alcock studied at the University of Manchester in the UK and earned an honors degree in Politics and Modern History. He speaks English and French, and some German.

The Air Charter Association (ACA) has joined the “Climbing Fast” NBAA-led advocacy program for business aviation. The industry group announced its decision this week, saying that it will highlight the new partnership in the <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2026-02-03/air-charter-association-backs-aero-friedrichshafen-show">European Regional Forum</a> it is staging at the Aero Friedrichshafen show in Germany from April 22 to 25.
The Climbing Fast campaign was launched in 2023 with the objective of what its backers say is “setting the record straight” about business aviation’s positive socio-economic impact. Multimedia output distributed via a dedicated website provides members with resources they can use, such as social media output, stories to share, and various advocacy resources.
“Climbing Fast” underlines business aviation’s role in creating jobs, boosting economic development, connecting communities, supporting humanitarian missions, and promoting more environmentally sustainable aviation. Advocacy efforts are mainly focused on informing policymakers and opinion leaders.
The ACA has more than 450 member companies across 64 countries, including charter operators and brokers. It provides accreditation and <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2026-01-27/air-charter-group-launches-beginners-training-course">training</a> and works with regulators and other industry groups to promote best practices through campaigns, including efforts to prevent illegal charter flights through its <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2026-01-12/air-charter-association-promotes-fly-legal-day">Fly Legal Day</a>.
Recently, both the Irish and the British business and general aviation associations signed up to support Climbing Fast, and The ACA is the 17th group to join. Other members of the coalition include the Aircraft Electronics Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Canadian Business Aviation Association, Experimental Aircraft Association, European Business Aviation Association, General Aviation Manufacturers Association, International Business Aviation Council, National Air Transportation Association, and National Business Aviation Association.
“As we continue to expand our presence across the U.S., initiatives like Climbing Fast ensure that we can better coordinate our air charter advocacy efforts with our industry partners,” said Glenn Hogben, chief executive of The ACA. “The air charter industry is a significant driver of employment, economic growth, and technological innovation around the world, and it is important we continue to get that message across.”
