Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

Gogo Business Aviation is a provider of in-flight broadband Internet service and other connectivity services for business aircraft.

Gogo Business Aviation has folded the recently acquired Satcom Direct business into a new Gogo branding that provides a unified single identity reflecting both companies. This comes after Gogo <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2024-12-11/oneweb-low-earth-orbit-satcom-set-launch-january-1">completed</a> its $375 million acquisition of the connectivity specialist in December, extending its reach and creating what the Broomfield, Colorado company <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2024-12-05/satcom-direct-buy-boosts-gogo-orbit">called</a> “the only multi-orbit, multi-band, in-flight connectivity provider serving the needs of every segment of the global business aviation and military/government mobility markets.”
While retaining the Gogo name without the “Business Aviation” tag, the unified branding adopts the familiar Satcom Direct blue in a move the company said capitalizes on the heritage of both companies but reflects the expanding business.
“The new brand represents how we can provide a seamless connectivity offering to our customers wherever they fly,” said Gogo CEO Chris Moore. “In an increasingly complex connectivity landscape, the brand reflects our contemporary approach to delivering a diverse portfolio of connectivity solutions to all sizes of aircraft from a single resource.”
While unifying the commercial business, Gogo opted to retain the SD Government brand for the military/government sector as well as the SD Data Center in Melbourne, Florida, where the former headquarters of Satcom Direct was located. “These are both Gogo group companies but have very specific markets that are familiar with these names, which is why we are choosing to maximize this familiarity,” he said.
