A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Embraer reached an all-time record company backlog of $26.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2024, a year-over-year increase of 40%.
Of that amount, $7.4 billion was for its Embraer Executive Jets division, which was 70% higher year over year, a new record for the company, and an increase of 67% over its third-quarter 2024 results.
The recently announced mega-deal with Flexjet served to boost the Brazilian airframer’s private aircraft book-to-bill ratio to an industry-leading 2.7:1 based on financial values.
While it was only just revealed, the <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2025-02-04/embraer-flexjet-partner-landmark-order-agreement">massive deal</a>—which represents the largest firm order for both companies—was signed in the fourth quarter of 2024, the OEM told AIN.
In the fourth quarter, Embraer delivered 44 private jets—split evenly between its light Phenom and larger Praetor families—and reached a 14-year high of 130, placing it firmly in the center of its predicted delivery range for the year.
Also reaching a record backlog was the company’s services and support division with a climb to $4.6 billion in the fourth quarter, a 50% increase from the same period in 2023, and 30% more than third-quarter 2023. That rise stemmed in part from the milestone Flexjet agreement, as well as other new contracts from its commercial aircraft customers. The division finished out the year with a 1.9:1 book-to-bill ratio based on financial values.
