A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

European trip support provider FCG OPS has issued a new update to its air traffic operation management (ATOM) IT platform, linking the company's operational control center and supported ground handlers.&nbsp;First introduced in 2015, ATOM integrated FCG's enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, flight operations, reporting, and business analysis into one package that can monitor requested services such as fuel orders, ground handling, crew and passenger transport, and flight or landing permits.
The new functionality builds on that capability, providing users with real-time updates to details such as aircraft readiness, crew and passenger locations, catering delivery, fueling schedules, and de-icing application.
“Our system, which has already proven its usability, continues to evolve,” said company CEO Sergey Starkov, adding that users can just open a link to access all their information tracked down to the minute. “Now, every step of ground handling is documented immediately, so there’s no need to worry about ground services being on time or double check by phone or e-mail if the catering is on board, has the fueling started, or whether the passengers just arrived at the terminal or already onboard.”
The update will first be rolled out to the company’s handling network of more than 60 airports in Eastern Europe, the Baltics, Central Asia, and Scandinavia. A second phase of implementation will include the company’s FBO partners at major European airports.
