A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Indianapolis Executive Airport (KTYQ) is celebrating the end of a construction project that increased the length of its lone Runway 18/36 from 5,500 feet to 7,001 feet, along with that of its parallel taxiway.&nbsp;A recent ribbon-cutting event for the lengthened runway was attended by airport personnel, state transportation representatives, and local elected officials.
The $15.2 million project, which began in 2020, was funded mainly through FAA Airport Improvement Program grants, with state and local government contributing the remaining 10 percent, according to KTYQ manager Sam Sachs.
The additional 1,500 feet makes the runway the longest at a general aviation airport in Central Indiana and, according to the local authorities, will add a considerable level of safety for the more than 40,000 operations at the airport each year.
Sean White, executive v-p of Jet Access—the sole FBO provider on the field—noted that its customers represent a wide range of companies. “This runway extension allows those businesses and industries a safer, more consistent and reliable access point in the many varying weather conditions we experience here in Indiana,” said White. “The expanded infrastructure will continue to make Indy Exec Airport a vital tool in the growth and economic development of the many communities it serves.”
