Gregory Polek has spent his entire career in aviation journalism with AIN, starting as a proofreader and assistant to then-managing editor Mary Mahoney in 1995 after serving an internship with&nbsp;New Jersey Monthly&nbsp;magazine and completing his B.A. degree in English/Writing at New Jersey’s William Paterson College. By 1997 Polek accepted a position as an associate editor, covering the regional airline beat for&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;in place of retiring industry veteran Don Anderson. The assignment took Polek across North America and Europe to profile regional airlines varying in size and mission from the likes of floatplane operators Kenmore Air and Chalk’s Ocean Airways to regional jet operators such as SkyWest and American Eagle. Today, in his dual role as Air Transport Editor and International Airshow Editor, Polek writes, edits, and manages AIN’s commercial aviation content while overseeing each of the company’s daily international air show publications in Paris, Farnborough, Singapore, and Dubai. Most recently Polek has assumed oversight of daily coverage of the Helicopter Association International’s annual Heli-Expo convention.

Aerocare recently refurbished an Embraer Legacy 600 for UK-based air charter firm AirX Group. Working with interiors specialist AeroVisto, Aerocare managed the removal of the interior and reinstallation of a new one. The company also painted the aircraft in a golden livery to match the look and feel of a Boeing BBJ at AeroVisto’s facility in Switzerland.
Working from photos of the BBJ design, Aerocare created a rendering of the golden livery for use on the smaller jet. To match the specific Mankiewicz paint of the original, the team liaised directly with Embraer to gain specialist approval for the required nonstandard paint system. Carrying out the work from its dedicated paint shop, Aerocare managed to deliver a near-perfect replica of the original.&nbsp;
The removal of the existing interior also took place at Aerocare’s MRO facility before its shipment to AeroVisto in Switzerland. Aerocare created the updated interior in partnership with Parisian designer Champeau &amp; Wilde. Once they completed the individual elements, Aerocare and AeroVisto coordinated their redelivery back to the UK for reinstallation in the aircraft.&nbsp;
This Legacy 600 job is one of several successful contracts Aerocare has secured since making a major investment in its facilities, including widening the hangar doors to 22 meters to allow for larger aircraft types.
