A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Aircraft management and charter provider&nbsp;Sun Air Jets has&nbsp;expanded its presence&nbsp;at Southern California business aviation hub Van Nuys Airport (KVNY) with the addition of 66,000 sq ft of hangar space&nbsp;for its managed aircraft clients and Part 145 repair station.

 


The company, which has a full-service FBO at nearby Camarillo Airport, partnered with aviation real estate firm Aeroplex Group Partners on two&nbsp;hangars that more than double Sun Air’s previous space at KVNY. The hangars can accommodate aircraft up to a Bombardier Global 7500 while the on-site repair station can work on jets ranging from Citations to Gulfstreams.

 


“Having space of this size makes Sun Air Jets one of the largest hangar facilities in Van Nuys and sets us up for continued expansion of our managed fleet and services at one of the busiest private aviation airports in the world,” said Justin Sherrill, the company’s director of aircraft management. “The design of the facility is based on our clients’ needs,&nbsp;with a focus on privacy and ease of access for aircraft owners and passengers to be able to drive right up to their aircraft via a private gate.”

 


Built to California’s strict green building standards, the&nbsp;facility on the northwest corner of the airport also offers amenities such as private offices, lounges, conference rooms, and gated guest parking.
