A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

With the sunset for Adobe’s Flash Player set for the end of 2020, NATA has released the schedule for the retirement of its legacy Safety 1st training program, which uses Flash Player, as it moves to fully transition to the new&nbsp;Safety 1st Training Center (SFTC). NATA launched the digital version of its Professional Line Service Training course in 2008 as part of Safety 1st online, moving it from a video cassette-based program. Since then, it has been used at more than 1,600 locations worldwide.

 


The organization launched the SFTC last year as a comprehensive learning management platform to provide aviation businesses with the tools and flexibility needed to improve operational safety and performance. It provides unlimited-use training for one annual fixed payment, regardless of employee turnover. NATA continues to expand the center’s available information catalog, having recently added courses on fuel quality control and customer service.

 


By the end of this month, no new companies will be added to the legacy program, and the purchase of new “seats” for existing customers will be halted on October 31.&nbsp; All registered students in the legacy program must complete their assignments by year-end. The legacy system will remain active only for record management by company administrators until June 1, 2023.
