Canada Delays ADS-B Out Mandate
Scheduled to take effect in 2021, Canada has shelved its ADS-B Out performance requirements, citing concerns from stakeholders and industry.
Citing user concerns, NAV Canada is postponing the implementation of its ADS-B Out mandate. Satellite-based surveillance will begin in the country's Class A airspace on Feb. 25, 2021, and Class B airspace on Jan. 27, 2022, but until changes between the agency and Transport Canada are ironed out, non-ADS-B equipped aircraft will continue to be accommodated.

In response to feedback from stakeholders and the industry, Nav Canada has delayed its ADS-B Out performance requirements mandate, originally slated to begin in 2021, stating that more time is required to prepare for its implementation. The company noted that ADS-B will be used for surveillance in Class A airspace starting in February 2021, but there will be no mandate for equipage until regulatory changes are made to the existing regulations.
