Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

Gulfstream Aerospace’s ultra-long-range G500 received European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) validation, the Savannah, Georgia-based aircraft manufacturer announced yesterday. Coming a little more than a year after <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2018-07-20/gulfstream-preps-g500-deliveries-faa-tc-hand">U.S. FAA type certification</a>, the EASA nod paves the way for registration of the aircraft in European Union countries.

 


“The G500 has been very well received in Europe,” said Gulfstream president Mark Burns. “Customers in the region have been drawn to the unprecedented level of technology and innovation on the flight deck and the impact that has on safety and efficiency.”

 


With a top speed of Mach 0.925, the G500 has a 5,200-nm range at Mach 0.85 and 4,400-nm range at Mach 0.90. Entering service in September 2018, the aircraft already has accumulated 35 city-pairs records around the world, including Seville, Spain, to Abu Dhabi in 5 hours 45 minutes; Geneva to Chicago in 8 hours; Doha, Qatar, to Shannon, Ireland, in about 7 hours 30 minutes; and Farnborough, England, to Las Vegas in 10 hours 20 minutes.
