Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

Honeywell Aerospace (Booth Y139), working with Altenrhein Aviation (Booth Y37), received EASA approval for installation of its Aspire 200 satellite communication system and GoDirect Router service on the Phenom 300. This approval enables Phenom 300 operators based in Europe to upgrade their aircraft with the lightweight systems, which provide voice and data services.

 


“Since entering the business aviation market, Altenrhein Aviation has remained dedicated to being a one-stop shop for preserving performance and maintenance standards for business operators through the use of efficient and innovative technology,” said Altenrhein Aviation managing director Natascha Rode. “Introducing Honeywell’s Aspire 200 satellite communication system and GoDirect solutions for the Phenom 300 platform will ensure we deliver reliable connectivity to both the cabin and cockpit.” Honeywell and Altenrhein Aviation are collaborating on a range of solutions on a number of aircraft, from the Cessna 150 up to bizliners such as the Airbus ACJ320.

 


Along with the Phenom 300 approval, a GoDirect Router was installed on an Embraer Legacy 650 under a modification developed by Alamo Engineering. The router enables access to the four-channel Inmarsat SwiftBroadband satcom and the Honeywell Ovation Select cabin management system. Honeywell said the router is 65 percent smaller and 70 percent more cost-effective, compared with other similar systems on the market.

 


“Stable and fast inflight Wi-Fi continues to be a staple for business passengers and is increasingly expected on all jets, regardless of size,” said Alamo Engineering managing director Ivan Grigoriev. “Honeywell has developed an agnostic router solution that can be easily implemented onto business jets to allow operators to utilize new or existing connectivity equipment across the cabin without the high installation costs.”
