A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Global Trek Aviation, which opened an FBO at Northern Ireland’s Belfast International Airport&nbsp;in 2015, has expanded its operations with the introduction of a new facility at Cardiff International Airport in Wales. The modern facility on the south side of the airport welcomed its first aircraft, a Jetstream 31, on May 14. It offers a dedicated VIP lounge, private offices, crew briefing center, flight operations facilities,&nbsp;and a fully integrated security screening suite.

 


With&nbsp;VIP handling and its own refueling service, the FBO is a suitable location for tech stops. “We are delighted to be opening the all-new facility at Cardiff International Airport as it offers tremendous potential with its ideal strategic location,” said CEO&nbsp;David McColm. The airport, which features a 7,850-foot&nbsp;runway, is operational 24 hours a day with no nighttime curfews or slot requirements, and immigration and customs services are available 24 hours a day.

 


Based on its progress, the company has also expanded its initial FBO, one of three at Belfast, adding to the initial size of its 2,000-sq-ft&nbsp;terminal. “Our Belfast International facility has been seeing increased traffic levels month-on-month, and we took the decision back in 2017 to plan for future growth at an early stage,” said Colin Gordon, the company’s group commercial director. “Doubling the floor space allows us to provide even greater comfort for our clients, put in additional amenities, a new security suite, and expand our operations control center to increase efficiency and deliver an even higher quality of service to our customers.”
