NJ Airport Offers Free Intro Flights to Local Youth

Up and Coming Monmouth County Executive (KBLM) partners with flight school on free lessons for township kids aged eight to 17.

On the theory that you can attract more flies with honey than with vinegar, Monmouth County Executive Airport owner Alan Antaki has partnered with the airport’s flight school on an initiative called Young Aviators Club. With its 7,371-foot main runway—soon to be resurfaced—and plans for large-hangar construction in the works, Monmouth County (KBLM) is an increasingly popular business aviation roost. But the privately owned facility, acquired by Antaki in 2013, faces the usual challenges of any airport in a populated area. Through the Young Aviators Club, eight- to 17-year-old residents of Wall Township, where the airport is located, are eligible for free introductory flying lessons with KBLM-based Eagle’s View Aviation.
