PPG Aerospace has received parts manufacturer approval for a new glass-faced acrylic windshield for Hawkers. The windshields are available for operators of the Hawker 750, 800, 800XP, 850XP, 900XP and 1000.
PPG said the new design is more resistant to scratches, abrasion and chemicals. The windshields also provide a more reliable anti-ice heating system, higher visible light transmittance and improved precipitation-static drain.
PPG used its Herculite II chemically strengthened glass for the external ply and acrylic main plies to create a lightweight windshield with longer life, said Mark Hood, global director for general aviation transparencies. PPG added a Surface Seal hydrophobic coating for water shedding and better pilot visibility.
The windshields are available through PPG Aerospace’s network of application support centers.
