Bizjet Crew Survives Upset

The jet was flipped nearly upside down in the wake of a departing 747.

Dave Newland, a Global and Challenger 605 pilot, survived an upset after his Global 6000 tangled with the wake of a Boeing 747 departing Hong Kong in the summer of 2014, according to Mesa-Ariz.-based APS Training. His aircraft, cleared to depart about eight miles behind the jumbo, was flipped nearly upside down at less than 1,000 feet agl, Newland said in a video testimonial.
