Hilton Software will release an Android version of its WingX Pro7 flight planning and navigation app in the second quarter. Demonstrations of the new Android version are available this week at Hilton Software’s Sun ’n’ Fun booth (D-081). Buyers of the Apple iOS version of WingX Pro7 will be able to run the Android version as well, at no additional cost.
The Android version will be updated with features that are currently available on the iOS version of WingX Pro7; initial capability for the Android version includes moving-map navigation, VFR sectional charts, IFR high and low en route charts, geo-referenced approach charts, overlays such as flight planned route, weather, TFRs and special-use airspace, plus integration with Lockheed Martin’s flight services system.
“We are actively developing solutions for Microsoft Windows, Google Android, Apple iOS, Pebble and Apple watches as well as working with many companies to include and enhance the integration of numerous ADS-B receivers, Arinc 429 bus modules for the commercial and airline industries, Garmin and Aspen Avionics hardware interfaces and pitot/static systems,” said company founder Hilton Goldstein. “We love the iPhone and iPad, but Android opens up an almost limitless number of phones, tablets and phablets with varying screen sizes, capabilities and price points, including ruggedized devices that are suitable for tough environments such as airline and military operations.” According to Goldstein, WingX Pro7 will work on sub-$100 Android tablets.
