Payerne Aeropole (Booth 5042), an economic development site on Payerne Airport in the La Broye region in western Switzerland, has logged contracts with three Swiss companies for the purchase of land around the airport. Two sectors are now available, one with planned runway access to the airport and sector two, which does not have runway access. Payerne Airport is about one hour north of Geneva by train.
Boschung, which builds vehicles and equipment for airport maintenance and other services, has contracted for two parcels in sector one for its world headquarters. Groupe-E, an electric company, has contracted for one parcel in sector two. Swiss Space Systems, which plans to build a spaceport, will be the third company to settle on Aeropole.
Aviation enthusiasts may remember that Payerne Airport is home to the solar-powered Solar Impulse airplane, which has the goal of flying around the world nonstop on solar power alone.
